A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night

, Start Time: 20:30 Screen Machine Bank Street, Cromarty IV11

(Cert 15) (2014) (intro - 15 mins; film - 101 mins)

Dir:  Ana Lily Amirpour

A filmic juxtaposition, of all accounts. Set in an Iranian city, its heroine — a skateboarding, vengeful vampire — sets out to reprimand the disrespect she encounters from men. Somehow, this film revolutionises the vampire genre through straddling film noir, classic Westerns and hipster, new-age feminism. Visually sumptuous and satisfyingly unnerving, it’s the perfect late evening, winter watch.

Tickets:  £5 Adults; £3 Under 16
